Volkswagen is Building a Factory for Battery Cells in Canada

The German car company Volkswagen (VW) is building its next battery cell factory in Canada, in the province of Ontario. VW announced this on Monday.

 

VW has not yet made a decision about a fourth battery cell factory in Europe, after sites in Germany, Sweden and Spain, it sounds.

Production of the Canadian factory is scheduled to start in 2027.

In Europe, VW wants six factories for the production of its own battery cells for electric cars. With this, the car group wants to become less dependent on Asian suppliers.
