US and Chinese Presidents Biden and Xi Jinping to Meet in the Coming Weeks

Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping “will meet in the coming weeks,” said Jake Sullivan, the US president’s top diplomatic adviser at Monday’s G7 summit in Germany.

Without specifying the form or date of the meeting, he assured us that at both the G7 and NATO levels there is “always more unity on the challenges” associated with China’s ambitions.

Sullivan went on to say that, especially at a time when relations between the two superpowers are extremely tense, “competition does not mean confrontation,” whether over the war in Ukraine, Taiwan or economic issues.
