Ukrainian President Zelensky First Time at the Table with Russian President Putin. In Paris, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron met to talk about peace in Eastern Ukraine.

 

Five years ago, a war broke out between the Ukrainian government army and pro-Russian rebels. It is the first time in three years that the leaders are discussing the situation in Ukraine.

The summit is at the same time the first meeting between Zelenski and Putin, who will also have a private conversation.

This afternoon Zelenski first spoke with Macron, while Merkel sat down with Putin. Afterwards, Putin also had a personal meeting with the French president. The joint discussions between the four leaders started at 5 pm, and they are still ongoing.

Then Putin and Zelenski will also speak in private. Later Macron, Merkel, Zelenski and Putin will also give a press conference together.
