The US Want to Help Rebuild Gaza

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says the United States wants to help rebuild the Gaza Strip.

According to the minister, helping the people in the area is an essential step in maintaining the truce between Hamas and Israel.

Blinken is in Israel and already spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday. “To prevent violence, we need to address the underlying problems. That starts with addressing the humanitarian crisis and rebuilding the Gaza Strip.”

An essential condition for the US is that Hamas should not benefit from aid and reconstruction. Blinken says that this is strictly monitored. Hamas rules the Gaza Strip. The group is seen in the US and in the European Union as a terrorist organization.

Blinken also speaks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of the Fatah movement on Tuesday. The US wants to improve ties with Abbas and the Palestinian authorities after those deteriorated under US administration.

The recent conflicts have killed a total of more than 260 people, most in the Gaza Strip.
