The Entire EU Wants to Call for Gaza Ceasefire, Except Hungary

Almost the entire European Union is pushing for an immediate ceasefire by Israel and Hamas.
26 EU countries argue for this, just like the US, among others. But due to resistance from Hungary, the EU is not united.
“First of all, the violence must end now,” said EU foreign chief Josep Borrell on behalf of 26 member states. He again condemned the attacks of Hamas, the movement ruling the Gaza Strip, on civilians in Israel.
Israel has the right to defend itself, Borrell reiterated, but it must do so proportionally and within the framework of international law.
Foreign Minister Stef Blok regrets the division but says he counts his “blessings”. He is pleased that his EU colleagues have gathered quickly and that Borrell has made a statement that he “fully” supports.
