Sentence of Aung Suu Kyi and Win Myint Reduced to Two Years

The country’s military leader has given Myanmar’s deposed leaders Aung San Suu Kyi and Win Myint, a partial pardon.

Their sentences have been reduced from four to two years, state media said.

Both Suu Kyi and Myint were sentenced to four years in prison for sedition and violating the corona measures during last year’s election campaign.

The junta news channel also stated that Suu Kyi and Myint would remain under house arrest. Therefore, both will not be sent to prison immediately, as they will face other charges in the coming weeks.
