Russia Accuses Poland of Dangerous Escalation, Promises Revenge
Russia accuses Poland of a “dangerous escalation in the region” after Warsaw expelled 45 Russian diplomats for allegedly spying. The Russian Foreign Ministry promised a response “that will make Polish provocateurs think twice”.
According to the Polish government, “a network of Russian secret services” has been dismantled.
The Russian ambassador to Warsaw was summoned on Wednesday morning and subsequently stated that there is no basis for the allegations. According to him, Poland has blocked the embassy’s bank account for financing “terrorist” activities.
The foreign ministry in Moscow says that Poland is not guided by its national interests, “but by the principles of NATO, based on an overt Russophobia turned into official policy”.
