Russia: 6000 Ukrainian Soldiers Captured

Russia says it has taken 6,000 Ukrainian soldiers as prisoners of war. The number cannot be independently verified.

Russia’s defence ministry also said an announced prisoner swap, which will see the release of 144 prisoners of war back and forth, was set up following a direct order from President Vladimir Putin.

It is the largest prisoner exchange since the Russian invasion began on February 24.

Nearly all Russian POWs released are injured, the ministry said.
