Police Sydney Recommends Staying at Home on Holidays Due to Fires

Sydney residents with vacation plans are better off staying at home. Leaving the city by car is dangerous due to forest fires in the area, police say.

 

Numerous important roads, such as the main road to the capital Canberra, have also been closed due to the fires surrounding the metropolis.

On Saturday alone, at least twenty buildings have gone up in flames. A man in the region is missing.

Last week, Gladys Berejiklian, the Prime Minister of the severely affected New South Wales state, asked the residents of the burning region along the southeast coast not to leave Christmas. She declared a state of emergency that ends on Thursday.

It is summer vacation in Australia. Many people do not thank politicians for going out.
