New Chrome Browser Causes Problems on Twitter and Instagram

Chrome 96, the latest version of Google’s browser, is causing technical problems on a number of sites. Including Twitter, Instagram and the web version of Discord.

Chrome 96 appeared at the beginning of this week and included a back-forward cache feature, which should better display previously visited pages.

But in the meantime, users are also reporting various error messages on a number of sites—GIFs or videos that won’t load or play or tweets that won’t show.

Google is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. One of the temporary fixes is chrome://flags/#cross-origin-embedder-policy-credentialless (enter into the browser to get to that setting), and disable that.
