Fourth Shot for People with Risk Occupations Recommended in Austria

The National Vaccination Council in Austria has recommended a fourth vaccination against the coronavirus for people who have a high chance of coming into contact with the virus due to their work or personal situation.

This includes healthcare workers who treat corona patients. According to the council, there is not yet enough scientific evidence for the benefit of a fourth shot to recommend it for the entire population.

According to the council, the fourth shot should be given six months after the third shot. The booster campaign is currently in full swing in Austria.

Austria recently came out of a lockdown, yet the measures with a view to the omikron variant of the coronavirus will be tightened again after Christmas. For example, entry restrictions apply to Dutch citizens, among others.

The measures have been relaxed slightly around the holidays so that unvaccinated people can also visit their loved ones.
