Denmark Closes Cultural Centres Due to Advancing Omicron Variant

On Friday, the prime minister of Denmark announced that cinemas, theatres, and concert halls would be closed due to a record number of daily corona cases.

The new omicron variant accelerates the numbers, said Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

The Scandinavian country registered a record number of more than 11,000 cases within 24 hours in the past 24 hours.

One in five corona infections now concerns the new variant, the prime minister said at a press conference.
