Chancellor Merkel Alludes to Stricter Corona Measures

German Chancellor Angela Merkel alludes to stricter corona measures. The current restrictions in Germany will not be enough to get the country through the winter, and party members quote her after a meeting in Berlin.

The situation is becoming dire, and the Chancellor is said to have said during consultations with other Christian Democrats. And that trust in hope will not help either.

There is too much talk of mulled wine at Christmas markets, and too little of nurses and carers who are now under tremendous pressure, Merkel is said to have complained.

When Germany partially locked up in early November, corona expansion, while weakening, has not stopped. The partial lockdown has already been extended until January 10th.

Merkel says that a new crisis meeting with the sixteen German states about stricter measures is needed before Christmas. The Bavarian Prime Minister had asked for this.
