Car Rental Company Sixt Buys 100,000 Electric Cars from BYD

German car rental company Sixt plans to buy up to 100,000 electric cars from Chinese manufacturer BYD over the next six years.
The cars will be added to Sixt’s fleet in the Netherlands, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.
The first order consists of several thousand cars, some of which will hit the road this year, Sixt said. The rest of the cars will be delivered in the years, including 2028. Sixt aims for 70 to 90 percent of the fleet to consist of electric cars by 2030.
Sixt is the first car rental company in Europe to offer BYD cars. The company is active in more than 100 countries.
The car rental company speaks of an important step in reducing emissions and says it is looking at more cooperation with BYD elsewhere in the world. In addition, BYD sees the collaboration with the Germans as a good way to introduce potential customers in Europe to its cars.
