Biden Wants Fair International Tax System with EU

US President Joe Biden, in a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, emphasized the importance of “levelling the playing field of the international tax system,” the White House reports.

Next month, the United States wants to reach a political agreement with the G20 countries on a worldwide minimum tax limit for companies.

Biden also expressed his support for continuing the admission process to the European Union for countries from the Western Balkans in consultation with von der Leyen.

The EU and the prime ministers of those countries will meet on Wednesday to discuss future EU membership for the six Balkan countries of Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and North Macedonia.
