Beijing Confirms: Coronavirus can be Transmitted from Person to Person

The coronavirus is transmissible from person to person, say the Chinese authorities. The virus appeared in Wuhan, China, a month ago and three of the 218 patients have died.

 

The virus is connected to the SARS virus that caused a great deal of unrest in 2003 and claimed more than seven hundred lives around the world.

China is taking measures with other countries to control the outbreak.

The coronavirus has also surfaced in Japan, Thailand and South Korea. Millions of Chinese will soon be travelling to celebrate Chinese New Year.

The Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) says that the possibility of human-to-human infection has already been included in the protocols for the approach for certainty.
